FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, JULY 26, 2022—As of August 1, Biddle Housing Opportunities Center (BHOC) will be operated by Peter & Paul Community Services (PPCS) to deliver housing options and supportive services for people who are experiencing homelessness in St. Louis.

“We are excited that the transfer in shelter leadership comes with supports allowing for the provision of clinical services and case management for the shelter guests.” said Yusef Scoggin, Director of the Department of Human Services for the City of St. Louis.

Providing emergency shelter as a bridge to permanent housing for single adult men experiencing homelessness has been the mission of BHOC, a facility owned by the City of St. Louis, since opening in August of 2016. For more than 40 years, PPCS has provided emergency shelter, transitional and permanent housing, and supportive services to those who are unhoused. By offering hospitality, compassion, hope, empowerment, and a chance for independence, PPCS lives their mission to walk with people facing homelessness on their journey to lifelong stability.

“The lessons we have learned at our various housing programs will help us optimize service delivery and measurable outcomes for BHOC guests,” said PPCS CEO Steve Campbell. We believe we can equip the guests of the shelter with the tools they need to create stability in their lives and end their homelessness.”

No service interruptions or shelter bed capacity changes will occur as PPCS assumes BHOC operations. Shelter referrals continue to be made via connection with street outreach and by contacting United Way 2-1-1.

Location: Biddle Housing Opportunities Center, 1212 N. 13th Street, St. Louis, MO 63101

Maximum shelter capacity: 101 bunks, up to 50 additional cots available during extreme weather
