At Peter & Paul Community Services, one of our most anticipated nights of the year is our Spring Gala & Auction, “Under One Roof,” a night when we get to meet, face to face, people like you who have supported our work among those most vulnerable in our community. Then, too, it is when we raise a large portion of the money we need to operate. Unfortunately, Covid-19 has made it necessary to cancel this year’s “Under One Roof.”
We are facing critical losses in addition to the loss of the Gala. Each year Peter & Paul Community Services receives thousands of dollars worth of donated food and supplies, and thousands of hours of volunteer service. This loss, at a time when we have had to increase our hours of operation and the staff needed to meet the needs of our clients 24/7, has resulted in an increase in operating expenses of $10,000 per week.
- FUND THE NEED for 160-200 bagged nutritious meals being distributed each day outside our Meals Hall. Since we can’t gather together inside right now, our Meals Program is providing packaged food outside our Meals Hall.
- FUND THE NEED to keep our Soulard Shelter open 24/7 so that our clients can shelter in place in safely,
- FUND THE NEED for increased meals at all four of our housing programs AND the temporary incentive pay that PPCS is paying all of our essential, direct support staff.
- FUND THE NEED for extra cleaning supplies and equipment to disinfect all of our housing facilities to help keep the virus from spreading,
Your gift NOW means so much to all of us at Peter & Paul Community Services, especially those we serve. Someday soon, when “social distancing” becomes a memory, we hope to once again celebrate with you in person. Until then, be safe and stay well.
