A Day to Live Inspired at the Community Campus

What happens when a message of hope meets people who are working every day to build a new path forward?

Recently, the Peter & Paul Community Campus was filled with laughter, encouragement, and inspiration as #1 national bestselling author and speaker John O’Leary joined us for a special Live Inspired engagement.

John generously donated his time to spend the day with our community, sharing his story and a message that resonated far beyond the stage.

At age 9, John survived a devastating fire that left burns over 100% of his body. Doctors gave him a 1% chance of survival. After months in the hospital and years of recovery, John went on to become an internationally recognized speaker, author, and host of the Live Inspired podcast. Today, he shares what he learned from that experience with audiences around the world, encouraging people to live with greater purpose, gratitude, and intention.

But at the Community Campus, his message took on a particularly meaningful dimension.

John spoke to people who are navigating their own challenges and working toward stability, as well as the staff, volunteers, and supporters who walk alongside them. His story offered a reminder that difficult circumstances are not the end of the story.

His message was not about pretending that life is easy. It was about recognizing that even in difficult moments, there can be choices to make, people to lean on, and reasons to keep moving forward.

That idea reflects so much of what we see every day at Peter & Paul Community Services.

At Peter & Paul Community Services, being “More Than a Shelter” means recognizing that people need more than a safe place to sleep. At the Community Campus, shelter, housing, health care, meals, case management, and supportive services come together under one roof, but so do opportunities for connection, encouragement, and community. John’s visit was a wonderful example of what that can look like.

For the afternoon, the Community Campus became a place not only for services and support, but for reflection, laughter, and inspiration.

We are deeply grateful to John for sharing his story with our community and for generously donating his appearance. His willingness to give his time made it possible for our clients, staff, volunteers, and supporters to experience his message together.

And perhaps the greatest takeaway from the day was a simple one.

There is always another chapter to write.

Thank you, John, for reminding us to live inspired, to appreciate the moment we have, and to keep moving forward.
