Steve Campbell’s Retirement
In June, we celebrated the retirement of our founding CEO Steve Campbell at our new Community Campus. Steve retired last spring after nearly 37 years leading Peter & Paul. It was a beautiful full-circle moment for our staff and friends to gather and celebrate his legacy. City of St. Louis Alderwoman Christine Ingrassia presented Steve with a proclamation from the Board of Aldermen. Former Board Chair and devoted PPCS supporter Mike Gunn presented remarks on Steve’s stalwart leadership.
During Steve’s tenure, his compassion and dedication inspired all who worked with him. Steve led the growth of Peter & Paul from a seasonal, volunteer-run shelter to a regionally recognized nonprofit organization providing year-round emergency shelter, a community meals program, two transitional housing programs, long-term supportive housing apartments, and more. We are grateful for everyone who came to help us celebrate!
The Archbishop’s Blessing and Catholic Investments in Housing Equity
In July, Archbishop Mitchell Rozanski blessed our new Community Campus at a reception with some of our Catholic friends and leaders. The event celebrated the seed support by two Catholic organizations dedicated to social justice and affordable housing for all of us.
- The Annual Catholic Appeal’s newly established Affordable Housing Fund provided an investment to support renovation of the 15 one-bedroom apartments at the campus for low-income residents.
- The Daughters of Charity invested in the campus through their Mission, Ministry, Impact Fund to allow us to serve more clients in housing crisis with solutions at the Community Campus.
Thanks to everyone who came out to mark the occasion and take tours of the Community Campus!
