Parson signs bill to stop homeless sleeping on the streets

This new MO law flies in the face of the Housing First model, considered a national best practice in stabilizing those who are without homes. Emergency shelters like our Soulard Shelter will be needed now more than ever. It’s too bad that we —  and shelters like us — are almost always without an empty bed. Where will people who are homeless sleep and not face being arrested? PPCS Community Relations Officer Tom Burnham is quoted in this article detailing how the law is intended to work – and what will likely happen, which is people being jailed for being unhoused.
